How often should you really get a fade?
A fade is a shape, not a length. The moment the shortest guard grows out, the blend that made the cut look clean starts to soften — usually before you notice it in your own mirror.
The timelines that actually hold up
Bald or skin fade: every 7 to 10 days. There is no hiding regrowth against bare skin.
Low or mid taper with length on top: 2 to 3 weeks. The gradient is more forgiving.
Scissor cut or textured crop: 4 to 6 weeks, with a beard line-up in between if you wear one.
If you can only come once a month
Ask for a slightly longer guard on the sides and a softer blend. It grows out gracefully and still reads as intentional in week three, which is more than you can say for a skin fade at day 21.
Book the next visit as you pay. Regulars at the shop keep a standing slot, and that is the single easiest way to stop the cycle of looking sharp for one week a month.
